The Direct Marketing Association recently found that email marketing has a ROI of 4300% while Monetate’s Ecommerce Quarterly also showed that email drove more conversions than other marketing channels, including search and social.
In recent years it has become trendy, especially amongst business coaches and social media consultants to tout the web and email as dead and Facebook / Twitter as the Holy Grail. This however, completely ignores the fact that there are 3 times more email accounts than both Facebook and Twitter accounts combined. Additionally, testing has demonstrated that the organic reach of posts on Facebook is only 6% whilst open rates for email are 20-30%.
Effectively this means your message is 5 times more likely to get through by email than Facebook…
Click through rates from email are in the 3% range, while click-through rates for Tweets are in the 0.5% range thus you are 6 times more likely to get a click-through from email than you are from Twitter.
Influential marketing blogger Derek Halpern ran a test where he sent his latest blog post to the same number of people via both email and Twitter.

Leading email-marketing software vendor Campaign Monitor doesnt think you should give up on social media, but does suggest
