We had the great pleasure of attending the 2007 Redlands Tourism Awards on Thursday night last week. A great night was had by all and we were delighted to be there to see three of our clients take home five of the awards.
Jeannie Sheppard (4th from left) of Stradbroke Weddings won two awards, taking out both the ‘Specialised Tourism Services’ Award and the Judges ‘Redlands on Moreton Bay Gold Award’. This award recognises the outstanding Redland Shire Tourism business or event for the year. Congratulations Jeannie!
Established in 2002 Stradbroke Weddings’ has styled and coordinated hundreds of weddings and events on Stradbroke Island. Jeannie recently added Stradbroke Party Hire and Stradbroke Flowers to their portfolio and has now established a mainland office. In what is believed to be a world first, Stradbroke Weddings announced a new environmental initiative; offering carbon neutral weddings. Propeller designed and built the new Stradbroke Weddings’ website
Congratulations also go to James and Ryan of Stradbroke Islands’ Manta Lodge & Scuba Centre who won the ‘Backpacker Accommodation’ and ‘Adventure Tourism’ award categories. Formerly know as the Stradbroke Island Guesthouse or Stradbroke Island Backpackers, the business was purchased by the Griffith family in February 2004. The facilities have since been upgraded and renamed to better reflect the “Lodge” type accommodation and scuba relationship with the famous dive site “Manta Bommie” where there are manta rays found in abundance. Propeller are currently working on the new Manta Lodge website.
Finally, a big round of applause goes to Kim Henshaw and Janine Crawford of Kija Communications who won the ‘Festivals and Events’ category for the Olivado Moreton Bay Seafood Festival. Propeller are proud to have worked with Kija Communications on a range of projects including the 2007 ‘More2Fashion Redlands Excellence’ fashion awards.
We’d also like to congratulate Amity Bungalows on winning the ‘Standard Accommodation’ Award and Straddie Kingfisher Tours for winning the ‘Specialised Tourism Services’ Award. Both shared our table and were great company. Dave’s speech was undoubtably one of the highlights of the evening!
Well done to all of the finalists and winners and thanks again to Jeannie Sheppard for the invitation – looking forward to next years awards!
